I’ve worn many hats over my lifetime. My favorites among them; wife, mother, grandmother, actor, director, artist and creator of whatever suits my whimsy. The last of which is the essence of who I am.
About Diane Dunne Smith
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
These days our little house by the beach consists of myself, my beloved husband of thirty years, and our 13 year old Yorkie named Rocky. We share 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Life is good.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I was a stay at home mom while my kids grew up and later worked in various bookkeeping jobs and then settled in an architectural firm doing their payroll, AP, AR, etc. Most recently, I would say creator best describes my professional focus.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
At seventy I can truly understand the phrase carpe diem. You are never to old to fulfill a passion; pick up a paintbrush, build a birdhouse, learn to play chess and enjoy the company and laughter of friends and family.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself following pretty much the same passions I have now into the future. It may be quilting, painting, building a dollhouse or a diorama, doing a jigsaw puzzle but it will be something that opens my eyes, and imagination.
Diane Dunne Smith & Our Community
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Stonebridge is always consistent and a great casual dining experience. If you’re looking for a super casual little lunch gem, Dogtown on New Haven Ave is the place.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Milford for over thirty years.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I’d have to say my husband. He has served this community in some capacity for the past 25 years and is probably one of the greatest conversationalists I’ve ever known. He is currently seeking a third term as State Rep for the 118th.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
I wish Harrison’s Hardware was still in town. Somehow an old hardware store says home.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The center of Milford reminds me of another time, a simpler time. I find that very comforting these days.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
That’s a toss up between Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama. If I could pick ANYONE it would be Toni Morrison. And I would take anyone of them to The Corner Restaurant on River Street. It has great food, is casual, warm and inviting, all elements for great conversation.
For Fun

Walnut Creamery’s ginger and chocolate cinnamon flavored ice creams.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
