I am a Connecticut native born in Stamford and currently living in Milford. I am a small business owner and glass artist running a public access glass blowing studio and gallery here in Milford, Kinship Glassworks. I’m an avid cyclist and my passion is mountain biking. Before opening my glass studio I drove a school bus in Milford for 11 years. It was my second favorite job after blowing glass! My significant other is also a very talented artist, (face painter), and we have a lot of fun in our family being creative, wether it be making costumes for halloween, new recipes to try or home improvements. Never a dull moment here!

About Christopher DeMott

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My SO and I have got eight children between the two of us but only three here at home and our two dogs. But for a hot minute we had five, a live in boyfriend and the two of us in our modest little home. That was fun!

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I am fortunate for the third time in my adult life to be doing what I love to do for work! What I love most about my job is having the opportunity to share my passion for glass with my community.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Do what you love and love what you do! Also cherish your family and the people close to you because tomorrow isn’t promised, it’s a gift.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Hopefully retired still making glass but spending more time with my SO, in the woods on my fat bike and just relaxing. I need a vacation!

Christopher DeMott & Our Community

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

Nothing like breakfast at The Corner or the Bridgeport Flyer. Baja’s for Shrimp Poblano or Happy Hour and Pretzel Bites with Pub Cheese at Bar 3 Thirty Three.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I’ve been living and working in Milford since 2012 and opened my glass studio, Kinship Glassworks in 2020.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

My friend Nate Stack who I actually met at my studio in Fairfield but he has followed the flame to Milford. When we have time he and I chat and the man has lived lifetimes more than I and has some great stories.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

Gonna toot my own horn, but we’ve got a state of the art glass blowing studio right here in Milford. I’m a fan of the Green and all of the events that are held there. I also love the architecture of the original homes situated around the Green and surrounding areas.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

Probably find me with Trent Johnston sipping bourbon on my back porch, grilling, chilling and laughing up a storm!

For Fun

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I’m a fan of the 7 Little Johnstons, (funny stuff), American Horror Story and Adam West’s Batman. I also like Harrison Ford, Keanu Reeves, super hero and gangster movies.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

Myself and three of my closest high school buddies worked in a clothing factory and our job was to string belts into dress pants! That didn’t last long!

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

My significant other’s cooking!

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My parents, my children and my SO! They all make me strive to be a better son, father and partner!

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Safe, Love, Happiness
