I am an operations manager by day and a face painter on nights and weekend. I’ve been a lifelong resident of Milford where I currently reside with my significant other, our children and two dogs. My business is named Once Upon A Face designs and my partner is my daughter Delaney. I got into face painting because my youngest child has Down Syndrome and I wanted to be able to raise money for DSACT.
About Sandra Cassidy
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have been with my SO for 13 years. I have 4 biological children and one bonus child. We also have two dogs and a turtle.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Currently, my full time job is in finance but I have a face painting business that is my true passion. My favorite thing about face painting is the look on a child’s face when they look in the mirror after I’ve painted them. It’s priceless
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Do what you love or find a way to love what you do. We spend too much time working to be unhappy.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself retired from my day job, fully engaged in face painting
Sandra Cassidy & Our Community
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Mama Teresa’s has the best eggplant rollatini and you can’t get a better breakfast than what is served at The Corner.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Milford for just over 50 years
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Michelle Lebel from The Corner is one of the most special people I know. She works hard and plays hard and she’s incredibly kind and caring even after all she puts up with in the cut-throat restaurant industry
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Phyllis of old Savin Rock had the best hot dogs and French fries when I was a kid. Lasse’s is also an oldie but still a goodie.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
We have Pirate Day. Walking around with our 3 legged dog was tons of fun. Also, we have glass blowing in Milford and my SO is owner/artist. Coolest (not literally) place in town.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Keanu Reeves. I hear he’s very chill and we would eat breakfast at The Corner
For Fun
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I love all home improvement shows on HGTV
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I didn’t speak English until I started pre-school
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
My Mothers cooking
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My daughter with Down Syndrome
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Safe, comfortable, welcoming
